Tutorials
- Lab 1: (GIS and CAD). Data (and the .pdf tutorial) is in the J:\adv_gis\cad_lab\ subdirectory- note, this is a canned exercise pulled from ArcUser Mag. Hope it works under arc 9, instead of 8. Keep this in mind and be a little flexible - if there are probs, let me know asap. For a writeup, give about a page of what worked, didn't work, liked, disliked, why, etc... Think of this as sort of a readings summary for a combo of a article and lab exercise. 3 points. Due friday, 10 April.
- Lab 2 - Erosion modelling and Arc Workstation
- Lab 3: Cartograms! I found some software online for making cartograms. First, goto worldmapper and play around with this site a bit, then pop over to http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=14090 . Here you can download an arcscript that will create cartograms. Read the documentation, dowload it, unzip, read the readme, etc. Play with it a bit!. There is a ton of data on the J drive, so no worries about finding shapefiles to mess with. As a writeup, think readings. What you liked, disliked, etc. Do about a page each for the arcScript and WorldMapper. Due Friday, 24 April. 2 points.

- Lab 4: GPS Accuracy.
- Lab 5 GPS2 - waiting for the data...
- Lab 6: Geodatabases
- Lab 7: more geodatabases. Email me for a code if you haven't. Go through the entire class. It will take
a couple of hours, so settle in with your headphones and a good cuppa joe (or poison of
choice). When you are done, take the test. Give me a screenshot of your
test score(s). Also, in a page or so, give me an evaluation of this course. Relate it to other
online courses you have taken in the past (if you have). So: hand in the screenshot and the one page writeup.2 points. Due Friday, 29 May.
