GEOG 303 - Lab 10
Work through Chapters 11, and 12 of the green book. Use ArcCatalog to copy the data you will need to your flash disk. Remember to always work off your drive! As you work through these chapters, remember that your data is on your zip, not wherever the book points you.
Provide brief answers to the following (must be typed):
1) After finishing Chapter 11, make the following map:
- the lease areas shaded based upon lease values.
- Include a graph of the stand value per square km (to do this, open the attribute table for lsall, add a new field [name it, make it float], then highlight that field, right click on the name, and enter field calculator. Assume the stand value is in thousands; the shape area is in square meters. Make your calculation such that the value is in dollars per square kilometer.
- Also - make sure your graph colors match the colors of your map. Note - this is a bit of a pain in the tuckus - you will have to manually adjust the colors in either the map or the chart. Remember, you will be printing this in black and white, so they must look the same when printed this way.
- Just for the heck of it, show only those streams which are within stand C and only those goshawk nests that are in Stand B.
- Make a nice layout - Include a legend that explains this mess. Print it on the laser printer. Remember, no color on this.
2) When finishing chapter 12, make a quick layout which includes: your chapter 12 buffer zone map and a table/chart or something that tells the differences in loggable area as the buffers change (from no buffers, to ch 12 buffers[including goshawk]. Print this and hand it in (B&W). Note - I want the chart on the map.
Due date: Monday, 7 December. 3 points.
