Introduction:
Extra credit opportunities will occasionally be available throughout the quarter. They will involve attending presentations that are part of campus lecture series (ie - Geography, Resource Management, Geosciences, Natural Sciences). The goals of these opportunities are to: 1) expose you to ideas beyond what you are learning in the classroom/text and 2) help you raise your course grade.
Any of the seminar programs listed above will be eligible for extra credit. For times and descriptions, contact each department. These are the only seminar series that will be acceptable for extra credit.
To hand in: On the Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday) following the seminar, hand in a 1-2 page, double spaced, 1" margins, 12 point Times New Roman font report that 1) summarizes the entire presentation taking special care to address the speaker's main points, 2) internalizes the internal presentation - ie - ties the presentation to the geography you have been learning in this course, and 3) uses university-level grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Points: 1 point for each writeup (equivalent to 1% of your final grade). To
a maximum of 3 points per quarter.
